Adam Barnard
Adaptor and Director
Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave
Adam Barnard is a theatre director and playwright. Recent writing for young audiences includes Invisible (Theatre Royal Plymouth) and Too Small To Be A Planet (Company of Angels / Latitude), which has also been translated into German and Norwegian. Other stage plays include buckets and Closer Scrutiny (both Orange Tree Theatre, London); he is currently under commission to the National Youth Theatre. As director he has directed many productions across the UK and in Europe for audiences young and old, and is also writer-director of a series of short films about human rights that are shown widely in British schools. He was previously joint director of Company of Angels, which specialises in new and experimental theatre for young audiences.
Julian Butler

Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave
Julian wrote the music for GaGa Theatre’s Up and Down in 2013. He has composed for lots of other shows for young audiences, including:Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play and Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play (BBC Worldwide/Polka Theatre), which have toured internationally over the last eight years. He has written songs for three musicals with Olivier award-winning playwright Mike Kenny, including Red Riding Hood (Engine House), which has toured the UK, the USA and Canada. Other shows he has composed for recently include: Off West End Award nominated The Box of Photographs and Gorilla (Polka Theatre), Just So Stories (Stephen Joseph Theatre), Leaf (Tam Tam Theatre), Under the Rainbow (Polka Theatre), Snow White (Engine House) and Julia Donaldson’s The Paper Dolls (Little Angel Theatre). His own musical, Neverland, premiered at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham last Christmas. www.julianbutler.co.uk
Verity Quinn

Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave
Verity is a theatre designer and maker with a background in visual theatre and puppetry, installation and site specific performance and has designed extensively on theatre for young audiences.
Verity founded and co-ran the design-led theatre company, Left Luggage Theatre from 2007 – 2011 and she currently co-runs visual theatre company Club Adelphi who are Associate Artists at ARC, Stockton.
Verity trained at Nottingham Trent. Verity was nominated for Best Set Design in Off West End Theatre Awards 2016 for Alpha Beta.

Matt studied a BA (Hons) in Theatre Production Arts at Mountview Academy before working under the tutorage of Nina Dunn. Matt combines the use of film, photography, animation, and illustration to create stunning integrated visual elements for theatre and live events.

Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave
Clare is an actress and physical performer. Theatre has taken her all over the world, on many great adventures. She has been: a camel on stilts in Abu Dhabi; puppeteered a giant bird in Austria; travelled all over the UK as an astronaut and scientist on a ‘Mission to Mars’ (Unlimited/Polka); and been a Cornish Pirate Queen, a Welsh Vet and Virus-whisperer, a Cockney knife-grinder, French chef and a sheep (origin unknown) in The Night Kitchen Cabaret. She is delighted to be on this adventure with Mrs. Armitage, Breakspear and Ga Ga Theatre.

Sophie Crawford trained at Cambridge University. Her theatre work includes War Horse (NT), The Used Blood Junkyard (Arcola) and FastBurn (Kneehigh)

Lucy McVeigh

In 2015 Lucy graduated from the University of Manchester studying BA Hons Drama. Following on from this she began working in London as a Tutor at The Complete Works Charity, using creative methods to educate and engage GCSE students who have been excluded from mainstream education. Lucy has had much experience acting, notably playing Hecuba in The Women of Troy, and Mrs Lintott in The History Boys. She spent two years Acting in and Directing the Theatre Uncut festival in Manchester, and is about to start Producing and Directing this years event in South East London.
